What to Know Before Contacting a Planner
Published: January 28, 2012
Planning a wedding is tough work. Beyond finding the perfect vendors, you have to worry about the event space, what type of foods to serve when, how many rentals to get, what colors to choose, who can play the music…and so on and so on. It becomes overwhelming fast! Don’t worry though – plenty of Knoxville wedding planners are just a phone call away. But few devote an entire planning studio to your day’s needs like 29:11 Event Planning Studio does! Check out the three things you need to have before meeting them (or any other planner, for that matter!) below.
- Know your budget. We don’t mean a ballpark estimate, either. Have a base amount reserved before you sign contracts, and then include a “safety net” of money to cover unexpected costs. This keeps you on-track without breaking the bank!
- Know what's most important to you from the beginning. Being able to walk away from “add-ons” at the last minute can save you tons! When you identify what you really want to see on your special day, you can make that happen first and worry about everything else later.
- Be open-minded to other options and flexible to changes. Your planner has researched the aspects of a wedding day for years, so trust his or her judgment. I don’t mean to let the planner take over all aspects of your day, but listen to suggestions and other options he or she may provide. After all, isn’t that why you chose to hire a planner in the first place?
Brenda Johnson is the owner of newly rebranded 29:11 Event Planning Studio, renamed from One Enchanted Evening after Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11. She and business partner Lisa have been in the wedding industry for many years, so you can trust their planning techniques!

What can you expect at 29:11? Full coordinating services within a beautifully modern and trendy studio where you can snack on goodies and drink beverages of your choice at each visit. Outside vendors can meet with you in the stylish (and I do mean stylish!) studio for all your needs. They even have a makeup artist and station in-house for your convenience.
The biggest issue Brenda has seen in recent years has been brides with unrealistic expectations. Thanks to the beautiful styles seen in magazines with little technical education included, brides sometimes strive for styles way out of budget or season. Brenda is great at finding brides breath-taking alternatives to certain over-the-top ideas that “look so simple” in the magazines. The studio began Brides Camp a few years ago to educate brides. The 10-week course puts them in contact with sample vendors who have great information and tips. Brides get hands-on experience such as learning to decorate wedding cupcakes and prepare quick meals for two. A giveaway drawing happens at the end of the 10 weeks for brides who come to most sessions, like a free bridesmaid slumber party at Castleton Farms! Learn more about what the sessions include here.
As members of the Association of Bridal Consultants and women with years of beautiful planning experience, Brenda and Lisa at 29:11 Event Planning Studio can make your dream day come true.
