Real Wedding: Lindsey and Keith

Married on a stunning fall day, overlooking the lake, Lindsey and Keith tied the knot at Latham’s Lighthouse Events Center and they truly are meant to be!

Tell us about your love story... What makes your mate a perfect match?

I grew up in a small town in Mississippi and dreamt of one day moving to Nashville to pursue a career in the music industry.  I attended Belmont University and graduated in 2009 with a music business degree.  My son was born during  summer break in between my sophomore and junior year... a surprise that turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  After college I took a break and worked at a local restaurant in Hendersonville, TN so I could spend some much needed time during the day with my son.  While at work, I began noticing a handsome (and older) man who was a happy hour regular, Keith.   When my brother and I scored tickets to the Titans game, I asked Keith about  tailgating since I knew he was a season ticket holder.  After that first tailgate and a few dates at local hangouts such as Anchor High, the rest is history.  We are definitely a unique couple... I am half Keith’s age.  But we fell madly in love despite those differences, have 3 children together (John age 27, Raegan age 23, and Tanner age 4).

So why are we a match?  Keith challenges me daily, and vice versa.  I have always had an older spirit (more mature, would carry on lengthy conversations with my friends parents in high school and even younger), and Keith has a young spirit!  We  have similar interests, seize life together, love our family and friends, and each other.  I have learned so much in this almost 3 years since we met, and I cannot wait to see what the future has to offer us.

How was the question popped?

Keith and I were heading to Mississippi (where I’m from) for my cousin’s wedding the next day, and had planned to have dinner together before the crazy weekend.  I met him at our home after work to pick him up for dinner and he asked me to get out of the car.  The first thing that ran through my mind was what happened?!?  Is everything ok?  He brought me inside, spoke the most sincere/beautiful/sweet words you’ve ever heard in your life, was crying and got down on one knee.  And of course I said YES!  He picked out the ring, with no help from me, it was a total surprise on my end, which made it all the more amazing.  I don’t like the idea of brides picking out their own rings, it takes away a little something.

Describe the wedding planning process... Who helped?

We were engaged for 10 months.  My mom was a huge help!  She went to a lot of the meetings with me.  My best friend, Hayley Kirkham, and her mother flew in to help me the week before the wedding and I truly could not have done it without them.  They hauled me all over town completed last minute tasks.  My friends threw me the most beautiful and thoughtful wedding showers both in Mississippi and in Tennessee.  I had a stunning bridal luncheon and rehearsal dinner at our best friend, Wayne Jaco’s house.  Full out party/barbecue with a band, almost as much fun as the wedding reception itself.  I am extremely type A and organized so made a complete list of everything I’d need, places to go, names, numbers, etc. and crossed things off as tasks were completed.  Big recommendation: PINTEREST!

And the big day…

Everything I ever dreamed it would be...The most amazing family and friends, a man who broke out into tears when he first laid eyes on me, beautiful music, and a heck of an after party!!!!  I read my own vows to Keith, which was something that I will never forget.  I was able to tell him everything he means to me.  I could not have asked for more, it was truly everything I’d ever hoped and dreamed of.  I married my best friend.

What's the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

Enjoy every single second.  You’ve worked so hard up until this point to put on the wedding of your dreams... Now have fun!  You cannot redo it, so make the most of it and don'tt sweat the small stuff.  The little accidents that may happen are things you will look back on and laugh at!

I am looking forward to spending my life with someone who makes me laugh every day, who loves me and who I love.  I know there will be hard days, we are both Type A!! I want us to make a difference in this world, and am anxious to see what God’s call is not for just us separately, but us as a couple.  Keith is a very special person, one whom I am very proud of, and I hope to make him proud of me.

Here's to a happy and long marriage!  Congrats to you both!  Here's a list of all the great vendors that made this dream come true...
