DIY Wedding: Wine Cork Centerpiece

By Pink Lady Krista

Perfect for winery-inspired weddings, these easy and elegant centerpieces will look great on your wedding tables.  Glass hurricane cylinders (found at most any craft store) nestle into each other, separate by a collection of wine corks.  Add a candle and you're all set!  Remember, unscented candles are always the way to go when planning for events with various groups of people... certain scents can be bothersome (even provoking an allergic reaction) to many people.

If you're not a wine drinker, there are other options.   Even as avid wine drinker myself, I'm saying uncle!  The cheapest route is to buddy up with your local bartender (by way of a healthy tip) and have him or her save the various corks discarded from busy shifts.  Depending on the size of the vases you ultimately use, I estimate 50-125 corks for a single unit, though a small vase with fewer corks lets more candle light flicker through.  Corks can also be purchased in bulk on Etsy... I found one vendor selling 55 corks for six bucks.  Finally, florists, wedding designers and planners tend to err on the crafty side, so if you would rather not start marital bliss with buckets of leftover wine corks, take this project idea to the pros.

Thanks to Two Twenty One for sharing such a clever idea on her blog!
