Wedding Planning with Pinterest!
Published: April 16, 2012
A new era in wedding planning arrived with online pinning board Pinterest! The social site has made planning a cohesive design for your wedding day easy for brides, and we at The Pink Bride love to hear that vendors use it regularly for bridal planning! Darla Walker, Facility & Event Director for Castleton Farms, took time out of her busy schedule to explain how Pinterest exists as an integral part of the planning sessions at Castleton Farms – and how effective it is for the planning process! Darla’s piece of advice for all brides is to stop and get a game plan for your overall wedding day look before purchasing items for your wedding, and Pinterest can certainly help. Check out the pointers below on how to give a cohesive theme to your wedding by planning with Pinterest!

- A picture is worth a thousand words. Instead of bookmarking webpages you will likely never visit again, pin the image on the page to a Pinterest board! Pinterest allows you to pin images from all across the web onto categorized boards, so you never have to worry about forgetting an idea you see and love. No more describing the perfect table setting on a scrap piece of paper – just pin it, and move to your next planning task!
- Share your boards with a link. Instead of printing images or trying to find them in a magazine to take to your vendors, just copy your board’s link into an email, and send it out! To send a link to all of your boards at once, send your Pinterest profile page (pinterest.com/your-username/). To send a link to a specific board, click on that board on your Pinterest profile page, copy the link in your browser’s navigation bar (pinterest.com/your-username/board-name/), and paste within your email message. Be sure to test the links before sending!
- Invite multiple users on specific boards for collaboration. If you want others pinning to one of your boards – such as one of your vendors, bridesmaids, or mother – you can invite them to be users on a specific board. To add multiple users to a board, click Edit Board. Next to Who can pin?, click Me + Contributors. If you already follow the person you want to add, start typing his or her name. You will see the person pop up in a list, and you can select him or her from there. If they are not on Pinterest yet, enter their email address to invite them to Pinterest so they can start pinning!

- Vendors can create your look on an inspirational board so you can see exactly what they are envisioning for your wedding. If you have a vendor that is on Pinterest, they likely use it extensively as a planning resource with their brides. Many will listen to your expectations and style desires, then create a board with visual ideas for your overall wedding look. This way, you get professional style advice and the latest trends for one rock star wedding that guests will be talking about for years!

Castleton Farms is a premiere wedding venue in beautiful Loudon, TN, with unmatched service and experience serving brides with impeccable style and taste. The Castleton bride experience offers a high level of communication and design forethought which includes between 30 and 60 hours of planning advice. Preferred vendors regularly use Pinterest to assist in Castleton’s renowned design sessions by showing the bride products which reflect the same look as pinned photos within the bride’s Pinterest boards.
Darla explains that planning sessions at Castleton involve boards for hair & makeup, paper goods, flowers, and many other aspects of the day. They can even involve video conferencing when necessary for out-of-town brides or grooms. A Castleton bride gets her own wedding website to use with RSVP capabilities, and the venue regularly contracts with vendors that provide invitation addressing and mailing services too.
